Spring has Sprung!

For at least a day or two :)

In honor of the first official day of Spring, I'm sharing pictures of the flowers in our garden! I know that most of you down south have had flowers for weeks, but this is our very first crop. And I couldn't be more excited about it!

Thursday afternoon was so beautiful: the sun was shining, it was over 60degrees outside, and the flowers are starting to bloom! So I took my snack outside, got serenaded by this cute little guy in the picture above, and went town with my camera!
This little guy is in the back yard. When I came home today, there was nothing left of the flowers but the stems...apparently the squirrels like to eat them. Bad squirrels.
I'm pretty sure this cluster is in the front garden. All of the flowers I have pictures of from Thursday are of crocuses. They close up at night and open again every morning and I think they are phenomenal!
The garden gnome is guarding these flowers against those mean squirrels.

More pretty crocus flowers
Today I came home from a weekend away and was suprised by the daffodils that started blooming while I was gone!

More crocus flowers...I love these 2 colors next to each other!

HAPPY SPRING!

If you never did, you should...

...these things are fun, and fun is good.
                                    ~ Dr. Seuss

Here's how my weekend went:

Friday: After work I took a quick nap then went to the OSU men's volleyball game. One of the guys I work with plays on the team. He won! AND I snapped this creepy picture of the OSU football stadium.

Saturday: I heard about the $9 dress sale at Old Navy, so of course I had to go get a dress. And why not get a jean jacket to complete the look, while I was there?
Can you believe I didn't own a jean jacket before Saturday?
Saturday night: The neighbors across the street had their annual St. Patrick's Day Party, so Aunt Carol and I made some veggie sloppy-joes, put on our green, and walked over. I was one of 4 people under the age of 45...seriously. And the other 3 people close to my age were as anti-social as they come, but I still managed to have a pretty good time.
My hair turns out great the one day I don't actually care how it looks...go figure.

Sunday: I'll start with the kind-of boring stuff. I took a quiz for class that I actually did well on. I sent out several resume's via e-mail to which I have already received 2 "we don't have anything right now". I'm pretty sure they didn't actually read what I sent them, because it very clearly states that I won't be able to start until at least June, I just want to know more about the facilities and for them to keep me in mind if anything does come up.

And the really exciting thing that happened Sunday night is...I bought a plane ticket to Europe! It's official, I'm going to Scotland and England for a little over 2 weeks in May! I am so excited about it! Luckily my passport lasts another few years...I got it out just to imagine where my new stamps will go!
I'll be needing this is less than 2 months!

So that's where I'm at right now. By the end of this week I hope to have my state picked out, so I'm hoping for some yes's to those requests I sent out, but I'm not revealing the state until I have a job lined up...I don't wanna jinx it. So you will just have to wait and see!

Here and...well, Here

10 days since my last post and I actually have some stuff to catch you up on!

I got the stomach flu. Luckily I was supposed to be off work a day anyways since I worked the weekend so I don't have to make up any time, but it was not a fun couple of days for me.

Last Friday night, it was my cousin Mandy's 30th birthday, so Uncle Fred, Mandy, and I went out to dinner at a yummy Italian place where I got a chicken and avocado pizza...sooooo good! Then, I went out with the girls for 1/2 price drinks, dancing, and a much needed break from school and work.

From left to right: Emmie, Maggie, and Me!
Saturday night I talked my aunt and uncle into going to a talent show my friend was doing stand-up in at the music building on campus. He didn't win, but we heard some amazing musical groups and had a really good time!
I look super pale in this one, but here's Me, Carol, and Fred!
Here's me in the new Ohio Union student center with Brutus the Buckeye.

Monday, we celebrated Mandy's birthday with a family dinner, then all of us girls made oreo truffles (thank you Lindsy Tiano for introducing me to those!) for a bake sale at work the next day.
Me, my cousin David's Girlfriend, Colleen, and Mandy

We made $350 at the bake sale and the oreo truffles were a huge hit! A lady bought 1 bag of them, tasted them, then came back and bought 10 more bags!

At the bake sale: the guy in the middle is my CI...ridiculous. My co-worker's Katie (on the Left and a fellow 3rd year PT student) and Sarah (Right) helped out, too!
Tuesday night I celebrated Fat Tuesday by swing dancing at the "Swingin' Tuesdays" Mardi Gras bash at the Shrunken Head decked out in my Mardi Gras colors.

Not much happened during the rest of the week. My CI went out of town for training so I spent some time over in outpatient with Missy, another PT. Our days sort of fell apart with all the cancellations and no-show's we had, but we were able to finally get caught up on some stuff!
I discovered on Friday that I have been in Columbus, Ohio for 10 full weeks. Holy Cow. I have not taken any weekend trips, visited anyone, gone out of town, ANYTHING for 10 whole weeks. So this weekend is my catch up on school, work, and just generally get stuff done weekend so that next weekend I can get the heck out of here.

Oh yeah, I am spending some time this weekend on deciding where I want to live. Right now I'm between Austin, Texas and Denver, Colorado. Don't ask how I narrowed it down to these 2 places, it was a LONG process. Before I can take my boards I have to make a decision and apply for a license in the state I pick. SO, if anyone has any opinions, let me know!

Happy Birthday to Me!

So, my birthday was last week, but since I am sooooo good at keeping up with posting, you get to hear about a week late...sorry.

Since my birthday was on a Wednesday this year I thought it was going to be totally lame. Turns out I was wrong!

My day started off with some delicious bagels my CI brought in and the manager actually asking for my input on a patient case...incredible! I finished a story about a patient and posted it to our website, which I can't get the link to work for, but here is the picture of us and our patient, whose permission I have to post this.

I got tons of texts and phone calls from family and friends throughout the day, making my day that much more spectacular!

I got home thinking I was going to just watch a movie and go to bed...wrong again! My aunt Carol and I went to Northstar Cafe, my favorite restaurant here! It has delicious veggie burgers...yummy! And they gave me a free, freshly baked chocolate explosion cookie. It was incredible! All of this yummy deliciousness made up for my aunt scratching the side of my car as we left for the restaurant. No joke, I park in the same place every single day and she hits my car on my birthday...figures.

After all of that fun, my friend from work, Katie, and I went out to the "Short North" area of town for a few beers and to see our friend, TJ's stand-up comedy bit. It was so much fun! There's no better place to be on a Wednesday night!

All in all I'd say this birthday was a success!
