Cirque du Locks of Riverdance

Cirque du Soliel from a box seat with unlimited popcorn...for FREE? Yes please!

My cousin's husband works for the Schottenstein Center at OSU and is in charge of set-up and take-downs for shows that come to town so he gets lots of free tickets to these shows. He and my cousin couldn't go, so my aunt, uncle, and I went instead! I didn't get any good pictures because it was on my phone, but the show was totally amazing!

These guys did a backflip and stayed on top of the huge balls right after I took the picture...amazing!

These guys were jumping through the rings stacked really high on top of each other and managed to look totally graceful doing it.

This week I decided that I needed to change my hair a little bit, and someone at work suggested Locks of Love. I used to want to do it, but never thought I could cut my hair that short. Well, this time I decided to just go for it.

My hair Friday night...
My hair Saturday morning!
This is Jill!! She did an amazing job with my hair! Ignore how gross I look...tired with no makeup on, yuck.

Carol (my aunt) and I wanted to do something for our birthdays, so we went to see Riverdance on Sunday night with my uncle and cousin, Mandy. We had great seats..orchestra level stage left really close to the front. The dancing and the music were absolutely incredible! The costumes...not so much. Overall, I would say it was a lot of fun!

From Friday to Friday, and Everything in Between

I've been meaning to post all week, but I got super busy, then super sick. So here I am now.

Last Weekend.
Friday Night: I got to hang out with my cousin, Michelle and her boyfriend before they both left the country for Guatemala and Hawaii...I hate them. Later that night I went out for the first time since I moved here.  We went to clubs called McFadden's and Charlie Bear. They were a little too clubby for me, but I still had a great time!

Saturday: I slept in! My aunt Carol and I saw Tangled at the movie theater. It was really cute! I love Zachary Levi...and Mandy Moore, I'm not going to lie. Then I went ice skating with my cousin and his ice skating buddies. I wasn't as bad as I thought. I only wiped out twice. We went out for drinks at a more relaxed bar, but still no pool tables or cigars, so it didn't feel like home.

Sunday: It was Superbowl time! Carol and I went to a Superbowl party at a family friend's house with delicious food. We both wore Green and Yellow...Go Packers!

The rest of the week I worked a lot. I did an evaluation with another therapist that took almost 3 hours to complete, but we did it! And a doctor who is in charge of the residents approached me and my CI on Tuesday morning and asked if I could do a presentation for the residents the next morning on PT treatment for Parkinson's patients...Oh Shit. But I said yes and spent the next couple of hours trying to throw something together. After all that, she comes in and says "nevermind" we don't need you to do it anymore tomorrow, but we will have you present sometime, but I'll give you more warning, then. Yeah, right. On Thursday at 3:30 she comes in and says, "can you present that Parkinson's information for the residents tomorrow at 7:30?" Sure...why not. So I put my information together and did the presentation. It wasn't my best, but it wasn't my worst either...so I'd say it went ok.

I went to swing dancing on Tuesday AND Thursday nights. On Tuesday, I met a physical therapist and 3 costume designers for the Cirque du Soleil that's in town through Sunday. Who knew you could be a physical therapist for a show like that? Ah-maz-ing! Maybe I'll do that instead! Thursday I finally started to get the Lindy Hop and I'm learning how to be a better "follow"...not easy for me. Wednesday I went to Zumba and LOVED it, we did almost all of my favorite songs. I really like this one...and this video is pretty similar to the routine we do.

Friday I stayed home and watched TV because I got sick. It's been coming on for a few days, so I tried to stay hydrated and drink yummy green tea with honey and lemon slices, but I still got sick. My throat hurts and my head feels like it's going to explode...yuck. So I took some Benadryl and slept for 12 hours, didn't feel any better Saturday morning, so I took a nap during the day and kept drinking lots of tea and water. Hopefully I'll feel better by the time I have to go to work on Monday.

My Life in Quizzes

My cousin came to town on Friday night and introduced me to these great online quizzes. I discovered a dog finder quiz and a place finder quiz. Here's what I came up with:

Dog Breed: Any kind of Spaniel or Terrier
My favorites are the Jack Russell Terrier, Beagle, and King Charles Spaniel

Place to Live: The first time I did the quiz it gave me 3 TN cities...really? Unbelievable. And I even told it I live in Ohio. But anyways, here are my favorite results: Honolulu, Hawaii; San Francisco, California; Denver, Colorado; Las Vegas, Nevada; Seattle, Washington; and Washington, D.C.

The quiz didn't really help me choose a placed to live, but it is super fun!

It Don't Mean A Thing...

...if it ain't got that swing.

So tonight I went to my first swing dancing class. I learned part of the Charleston and part of the Lindy Hop. I totally rocked the Charleston. The Lindy Hop was an epic FAIL. But, I signed up for a whole month of classes and there's an open dance on Tuesdays that I can go to to perfect my "skills". And lucky for me, I'm related to the teacher of the classes, so I can get private lessons pretty much whenever I need them...and I need them!

Update on the rest of my week. Even though it was only a 4-day week since I worked this weekend, it still feels like the longest week ever. I have been back and forth between the hospital and outpatient every day and today I ended up being the lead therapist for 2 of our spinal cord injury patients. It has been going great and I am learning a lot, but I am definitely keeping busy!

I've been parking on a sheet of ice for the last 3 days and sliding my way in to work. I treated my co-worker today for an injured shoulder from a fall...ridiculous. We all need those spike things you can snap onto your shoes. My aunt and I didn't have power for a day and a half. We have some nice neighbors who did and let us hook up to their heat! But still no electricity, so we did everything by candlelight. We couldn't think of anything to do when it got dark, so we played cards until 10 and went to bed.

My cousin, Michelle is coming in to town tomorrow before she leaves for Guatemala and her boyfriend heads to Hawaii. Do I even need to say Jealous?
